"A new life will come forth from the womb of darkness." - Na'im Akbar

Every new situation we face in life sends us back into the womb of darkness. Like an embryo, we must go through changes in order to become whole, healthy and complete. We may feel alone, confused or frightened. In reality, we are growing, developing, evolving. In the womb of newness, we learn what we can and cannot do, given the space we are in. Yet we must continue to stretch and flex as we grow. We come to acknowledge our limitations knowing they are temporary. There is eventually a way out. In the womb, we are nurtured, fed and protected by an unseen, unknown force. We are watched over and prayed for by the ancestors. They know what it is we must do. The womb is the place where we are strengthened and primed by the people we do not yet know. They are waiting for us to be born and share with them all the things we learned in the womb.

The above is from Iyanla Vanzant's "Acts of Faith."

I know this with all of my being. I recognized this in my Great-Grandmother's and Aunt Annie's eyes as a child. They knew me before I was born. They knew how my personality would be, my likes and dislikes. Something about me would always make them smile and their eyes shine. I don't know what they saw in me really, but I know it to be beautiful. I don't think we are ever truly allowed to see in ourselves that which others see. Much of my family and friends tell me that I have never been fat. I see myself as fat even now. When putting myself down, a male friend has posted me in front of a mirror..."Look at how beautiful you are," he said, almost in tears. I think a lot of times, we are our own harshest critics; but I also think this is how we evolve. Our mission here on this plane is personal. The time will come when we can smile and scream, "Mission accomplished!!!" Until that time, I feel, everything is a part of getting there. Darkness may sometimes haunt our lives; but the fact remains that we are all beautiful and strong, and we are here to succeed in our personal missions. The darkness is sometimes needed to make us see ourselves and know that through surviving something we never thought we could, we can succeed and we are amazing beings :) Please, take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back. You've come a long way, Baby!!! Now get back to work :P

"Out of this new darkness, there will come a light."

-Daily Affirmation

As always, have a beautiful day and enjoy your evolution :)

Thank you so very much, dracaslair :) I used to live in Norfolk as well, about 18 years ago lol Norfolk is busy. Where I live now, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, is much more laid back. Everyone here pretty much knows and has known everyone throughout their entire lifetimes :) How's life treating you, my friend???
