Positive Feng Shui for Your Child's Bedroom
73Ensure Restful Sleep for Your Little Stars With This Ancient Art of Placement
Tips for Raising a Happy, Healthy Child
To ensure a good night’s sleep, paint your child’s room a soothing color. Soft pastels are best. Neutral colors such as blue, light pink, light yellow, beige, peach and green are very calming. Do not use energizing colors such as red, dark blues, bright orange or bold yellow. While bright colors are good for a playroom, these colors are too stimulating for a bedroom.
Choose inspiring artwork for your child’s room such as clouds, rainbows, stars, and pretty flowers for little girls. A tall, strong tree painted on your child’s wall will encourage his/her healthy growth. Always keep in mind that like attracts like.
To calm a moody child, place a green plant in their bedroom. Be sure to keep it well-watered and healthy. Care for the plant and help it grow as you would your child. A high level of oxygen is of great importance in any child’s room. Air-purifying plants such as English Ivy, Peace Lilies, Areca Palms, Bamboo and Rubber Plants are the best choices for ensuring fresher air in your home.
Always avoid high energy producing items such as computers, televisions, and other electronics in any and all bedrooms. Also, do not use aggressive décor such as battle scenes, swords, guns, wrestling paraphernalia, wild animals, or violent video game posters. These can cause nightmares and increase violent, aggressive behavior in your child.
Windows and mirrors increase the energy in a room. You want your child’s bedroom to be as relaxing as possible to keep them calm and well rested. Therefore, rather than covering your child’s windows with merely blinds, you should also accent them with soft fabric.
In placing your child’s furniture, do not arrange the bed under a window, skylight, beams or shelves full of books or games. However, they should be able to see the door from their bed and the headboard should be against a solid wall. East or southwest are the best directions for your child’s head to be positioned into. The bedding should be comfy and inviting for your child. Keep in mind the fabrics and pillows that help you get a good night’s rest; but continue with the soft color scheme. The space under your child’s bed should always be kept clear. There should be no mirror or other reflective object facing their bed. These can cause nightmares.
Avoid furniture that is big and bulky. Do not overload your child’s room with furniture. This can lead to a cluttered mind and make it harder for them to focus. Keep the room neat and organized, and free of any outgrown items. Keep toys in a closet, drawer or cabinet that can be closed when not in use. Making sure that everything is put into its proper place before bedtime will ensure peaceful sleep. In this way, your child will awake well-rested in the morning.
Things that are good to have in your child’s bedroom include: a hanging crystal in the window; a good quality, wooden bed; stars and planets stuck on the ceiling to create a night sky; and a family photo near their bed to remind them of the loving family they have.
Negative items to remove from your child’s room include: trash and wastebaskets; phones; pets, including fish tanks; and all electronics. If they must have a television, game console or any other electronics in their room ensure that they are in a cupboard with doors or behind a screen at bedtime as they do not ensure a peaceful dreamtime.
The influence of the environment your child lives in is crucial in his/her development. By applying a few Feng Shui tips in the arrangement and décor of your child’s bedroom, you are giving them a sense of security, balance and peacefulness. This will help them to sleep better, have better focus and a much more balanced attitude. Using Feng Shui in your child’s bedroom will help with their interactions with others as well as aiding them in their learning and growth.

This is a wonderful hub - my wife painted our sons room about a year ago and it looks great and I am pleased to say using soft and calming colors. Thank God for that - they don't need any more energy boosts at night. Thanks for your hub and I will take note of Feng Shui in the future it seems to be amazing for balance and calm.
